There is also a reason so much popular animal trivia turns out to be wrong. Facts about animals spread faster than corrections do, and the appealing version of a claim usually beats the accurate one. Goldfish do not have three-second memories. Bats are not blind. Ostriches do not bury their heads in sand. Each is repeated constantly because it makes a better line than the truth.
The questions here stick to claims with research behind them, and the explanations say what the evidence shows rather than overstating it. Where a finding applies to some species rather than all of them, the wording reflects that — several dolphins sleep with half a brain at a time, not every marine mammal, and the difference matters if you are going to repeat it.
